Bill Cosby’s Maximum Possible Sentence Now 10 Years After Chargers Merged

In 2004, the famous comedian and actor, 81 year old Bill Cosby, had committed a crime of 3 assault charges. Now, in 2018, he is being sentenced up to 10 years in prison for the count of drugging and sexually assaulting young victim Andrea Constand. The 3 charges allegedly turned into 1 charge. He originally faced 30 years, but after the 3 charges turned to 1 his sentence was reduced to a maximum of 10 years in prison.

In the court trial, the prosecutor had said Cosby had shown ‘ no remorse’.  Pennsylvania District attorney Kevin Steele says, “ To get to the point they were going to get to. And that didn’t involve consent.” Even after hearing what the attorney asked for him to have house arrest based on his age and his blindness. Also says Cosby is harmless and just an innocent 81 year old man who couldn’t cause any danger. Cosby’s sentence was planned to be brought through on Tuesday, September 25 and were to be decided if he would be classified as a ‘sexually violent predator’.

Cosby declined to agree to being labeled a sex offender even though it would help him and was recommended by his defense attorney. Prosecution expert says Cosby had a mental disorder. Bill Cosby held an urge toward unconsenting women and could not help but to act on this urge. It was beyond his control.

Cosby was also involved in 5 ‘prior bad acts’ and many of his victims had showed up to the trial. All these women were also drugged and assaulted by Cosby. Numerous of these victims wanted to testify but Judge O’neill declined them to testify. Although, Janice Dickson did testify against him as well, full of anger after he also had drugged and assaulted her as well. Bill Cosby refused to testify in this trial.

A prosecutor recommended to revoke his bail of 1 million dollars because of a private plane. When he had mentioned this to the judge, Cosby had got up and called Mr.Steel an ‘a**hole’ saying Cosby didn’t have a plane yelling it in 3rd person towards Kevin Steele. Cosby’s anger did overcome him and what he did was very unnecessary for the court of law.  O’neill over saw Cosby’s mistrial a year earlier that ended up with a hung jury. The jury couldn’t come up with an agreement so they moved the trial to a new jury and now here we are.

Later on, Andrea’s family had spoke. Andrea just wants some justice for herself after being violated by an older man. Gianna Constand, mother of the victim, feels her whole family had been ‘vindicated’. Andrea’s family just wants justice for them and for all of this man’s victims, which is very understandable.

Consent is a right. Bill Cosby took this right away from innocent women, this is something that will stick with them for the rest of their lives. It’s not like a bruise, it doesn’t go away. It’s like a scar that will always be there in the open, on their mind, they will never forget this. Being sexually assaulted does play a role on someone life forever even including the one’s around them, and now Andrea and these other women will not be able to trust anyone or ever be able to live a normal life knowing that something could happen and someone could take advantage of them like that. Cosby should go to prison, he should be sent away with no contact with human life. He took these rights from these women so now all of his rights should be taken away from him.

Bill Cosby has stayed out of jail for the last 5 months on 1 million dollar bail. He could even stay out even longer until any legal appeal is approved. Even though he is already going to court for this he should have been locked up until he was proven not guilty.

Even though this is happening with Bill Cosby, he is not the only problem, there is many other offenders and victims out there. For example there was a man known as Dr. Larry Nassar who was a doctor for an olympic gymnastics team, he was molesting young girls while giving them treatment. 156 women have been victims and have testified against this man. There are women all over the world having their lives changed in a horrible way all because a man needed to satisfy himself.

Damaging one person is enough, that shouldn’t even happen, but when there are multiple it is completely sick. These men show no remorse or sympathy for these innocent women, so why should we show them any sympathy or remorse for them? We shouldn’t. Over all Bill Cosby is not the only problem and Larry Nassar is not either. They’re just part of it.
