My Opinion on Kneeling During the Anthem

This is ridiculous. How can these people do this? They must have some nerve.

As you can see, I was fully and completely outraged when I heard about this situation. I had no words to describe my emotions towards these people. I was disgusted with their behavior and that taught me a lesson, even though you have the right, it doesn’t mean you should.

It all started when quarterback Colin Kaepernick of the San Francisco 49ers knelt during the national anthem at a game against the Los Angeles Rams. He did this to protest against police targeting black people but, what he didn’t know is how much hurt and anger he would later cause.

These football players have some nerve kneeling down during the National Anthem. Their jobs are to play football, a game every little boy dreams of playing. They make on average, $1.9million every year but, they can’t stand for a minute and a half to honor the people who have fought for them and their rights to even play football? Not okay at all.

I completely understand that they want to show Trump who he is messing with but there are other ways. Kneeling during the Star Spangled Banner just show that you are ignorant and care more about yourself than the people who died for you to have the rights to even kneel during the anthem.

If those players were to kneel in North Korea during their National Anthem, do you know what would happen to them? They would be killed right on the spot. But no, these people are going to take advantage of the freedom that people who live among us and died for us earned for ALL of us.

Also, not to mention that there has been a study done by a black man about the percentage of white police officers that kill black people. He looked at the cold, hard evidence and found that it is more likely for a white police officer to kill another white man, than it is for a white police officer to kill a black man.

People should learn and look at the evidence before they go pulling the race card to use it to their advantage. I am NOT at all denying that there have been acts of hatred towards black people because there is also hard evidence that that is true also. But to disrespect people who have fought to give you the rights to do the things you want to do, say things you want to say, and be who you want to be is truly and utterly disrespectful.

It’s also hard to be standing in my position when my dad is in the active military fighting for our country and we have people that couldn’t even bother to stand up and say “thank you for doing what you do.” It’s outrageous and i’m appalled. To disrespect your country like that and not even feel any remorse about it is truly sad.
