Teenagers now a days enjoy watching TV or Netflix. If you’re in need of a new show to watch this fall or winter, keep reading. Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Video, and regular cable has changed teens lives, providing them with something to watch when they’re bored, need to relax, or just whenever. Below, ten most popular shows being talked about in the world by teens are listed in no particular order and spoiler free.

The first TV show is This Is Us, it can be streamed on Hulu or on NBC. The show is an American drama series that was written by Dan Fogelman and three other co-writers. As of now, This Is Us is on its third season, a new episode comes out every Tuesday night at nine o’clock. The show takes the viewers on a journey following the Pearson family. It tells the story of Jack and Rebecca and their three kids with flashbacks, present time, and flashforwards. The main cast is Mandy Moore as Rebecca Pearson, Milo Ventimiglia as Jack Pearson, Justin Hartley as adult Kevin Pearson, Chrissy Metz as adult Kate Pearson, and Sterling K. Brown as adult Randall Pearson. On the most recent issue of People Magazine, a complete guide to This Is Us was given for fans to gain further knowledge about the cast and the show itself. This Is Us has won many different awards, as well as many of the actors/actresses for their tear jerking performances in the show. Be ready with a box of tissues nearby when watching this series!

Next up is Pretty Little Liars. This show started in 2010 and ended with seven full seasons in 2017. It can be found on Netflix, but it aired on Freeform originally. The Perfectionists is a PLL spinoff, coming out in 2019. Marlene King is the creator of the popular teen drama series. The show is set in Pennsylvania where four friends go through the loss of their friend Alison and start getting threats from -A. The main cast is Troian Bellisario as Spencer Hastings, Ashley Benson as Hanna Marin, Lucy Hale as Aria Montgomery, Shay Mitchell as Emily Fields, and Sasha Pieterse as Alison Dilaurentis. The show aired 160 episodes over seven drama filled seasons.

The third show ranked as one of the best Netflix teen shows is Grey’s Anatomy. This show has been around since 2005 and is still going on now, it is  on the fifteenth season. The show takes place in Seattle Grace Hospital, which is based on a real hospital in California. The five main characters start out as interns and work their way up to being residents in the hospital. The main characters are Meredith Grey (Ellen Pompeo), Cristina Yang (Sandra Oh), Derek Shepherd (Patrick Dempsey), Alex Karev (Justin Chambers), and Miranda Bailey (Chandra Wilson). There is 321 episodes as of right now and there is a spinoff called Private Practice.

A show that has been raved about for almost two years now is Riverdale. Season three is being aired now on the CW every Wednesday at eight o’clock. The show is based on the old Archie Comics. It is a trending drama show that teens have been loving since 2017. It follows the lives of Betty Cooper (Lili Reinhart), Archie Andrews (KJ Apa), Jughead Jones (Cole Sprouse), and Veronica Lodge (Camila Mendes) as they try to find out who the black hood is. The Fosters is another popular teen drama show that is found on Netflix. The first episode aired on Freeform in 2013 and the showed ended this summer in June after a grand three night finale. There is a spinoff being produced on Freeform, called Good Trouble coming out in 2019, it follows the journey of Mariana and Callie Adams Foster as they navigate adulthood. The show captures lives of the married couple, Stef and Lena Adams Foster (Teri Polo, Sherri Saum) as they go through life with their four adopted children, Mariana and Jesus (Cierra Ramirez, Jake T. Austin seasons 1-3 and Noah Centineo seasons 3-5) and Callie and Jude (Maia Mitchell, Hayden Byerly) and Brandon (David Lambert) who is Stef’s biological son from her previous marriage, as they get older. The series focuses on the close knit, diverse family that goes through many different issues.

The Vampire Diaries is a supernatural show that aired in 2009 and ended with eight seasons in 2017. A spinoff called the Originals was also put on television on the CW network. The Vampire Diaries takes people along getting to know Elena Gilbert (Nina Dobrev) and her journey in a love triangle with two vampire brothers, Damon Salvatore (Ian Somerhalder) and Stefan Salvatore (Paul Wesley). The drama series is based on the book series written by L.G Smith. The show provides drama with supernaturalism and romance.

Another show that has caused a country wide phenomenon is Stranger Things. This Netflix Original has been around since 2016 and is on its third season. It takes place in the ‘80s when 12 year old boy, Will Byers (Noah Schnapp) goes missing and his three best friends, Mike Wheeler, Lucas Sinclair, and Dustin Henderson (Finn Wolfhard, Caleb McLaughlin, Gaten Matarazzo) go out in search for him. They find a supernatural girl, Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) who helps them find out what really happened to Will. This show has caused lots of talk and popularity because the show provides drama and supernaturalism/paranormalism.

Next up, is Thirteen Reasons Why, a Netflix show that came out in 2017 and there is two seasons as of now, with the third coming out in 2019. This drama has caused controversy around the world for two years now, especially after the season two finale. The story follows Hannah Baker (Katherine Langford), a suicide victim who recorded thirteen cassette tapes about the thirteen people/reasons she ended her life. The main cast is Clay Jensen, Tony Padilla, Jessica Davis, Alex Standall, Justin Foley, and Bryce Walker (Dylan Minnette, Christian Navarro, Alisha Boe, Miles Heizer, Brandon Flynn, and Justin Prentice). The series is based on the novel written by Jay Asher.

The six season drama show, Teen Wolf aired in 2011 on MTV and ended in 2017 with 100 episodes. The show follows Scott McCall (Tyler Posey) as he becomes a werewolf and deals with many different supernatural villains along the way, with his human best friend, Stiles Stilinski (Dylan O’Brien) helping him through everything. The show is filled with drama, romance, friendships, and action. The only way to stream Teen Wolf is through Amazon Video, the show is not available on Netflix or Hulu.

The last top ranked teen drama show is Switched at Birth. The show originally aired on Freeform in 2011 and ended with five seasons in 2017. The drama tells the story of two teenage girls, Bay Kennish and Daphne Vasquez (Vanessa Marano, Katie Leclerc) who were switched at birth. The twist to the story is that Daphne is deaf. The two switched up families get to know each other and get through tough times. Some of the deaf Switched at Birth actors are really deaf. The main characters/cast are Emmett Bledsoe, Toby Kennish, Kathryn Kennish, John Kennish, and Regina Vasquez (Sean Berdy, Lucas Grabeel, Lea Thompson, D.W Moffett, and Constance Marie).

The top ten drama tv shows are all great ones to binge watch on a cold rainy winter day with a bowl of buttery popcorn. Watch these shows to relax and wind down at the end of the day just before bed.
