These songs are all according to the Billboard Hot 100 Chart, but slimed down to the first seven songs.
Girls Like You- Maroon 5 ft. Cardi B: This song was number two last week and is now number one this week. It is now on this chart for its seventeenth week. This song was produced by Cirkut and Jason Evigan, they also wrote the song along with Adam Levine and Starrah. It is a single from Maroon 5’s sixth studio album, ‘Red Pill Blues.’ It is an upbeat pop song love song that shows that Adam Levine, the lead singer of the band, has appreciation for his girlfriend after overcoming a difficult time in their relationship. The music video shows successful women in Hollywood around him as he’s singing. It has sounds that every other pop song today has, and nothing is really unique about it.
In My Feelings- Drake: ‘In My Feelings’ is at number two on the chart and was number one last week. It has been on the chart for now twelve weeks. The song is produced by TrapMoneyBenny and BlaqNmilD. The song was written by the producers, many other people including Lil Wayne and Drake. This is a single from Drake’s newest album, ‘Scorpion.’ It’s an upbeat club-mixed song with sounds of pop and hip hop. Drake is singing a love letter to these girls, wondering if they still love him. ‘In My Feelings’ is still very popular and some people even think it’s his best song or at least best song on this album.
Killshot- Eminem: This new Eminem song is new on the chart and at number three, which makes this song his highest ranking debut. This song is produced by IllaDaProducer and is a very explicit song, which was written by the producer and Eminem. This song is a single from an album not yet released. The song is a rap song and is about Eminem’s response to another singer he is having a feud with. The song is talking about what happened during their feud and in the song it talks about what Eminem thinks of the singer he’s having a feud with, Machine Gun Kelly.
Lucid Dreams- Juice WRLD: This song is now on number four and was on number five last week, so it’s gone up and is getting more popular. It is now it’s nineteenth week on the chart. The song is produced by Nick Mira and it’s a single from the album ‘JuiceWRLD 9 9 9,’ Juice WRLD also wrote this song. The song is about what people go through mentally, after a break up. Lucid dreaming is where someone can control what happens in their dream, and knows exactly what’s going to happen. This singer uses this idea for an analogy for his mental state, where he wants to avoid seeing his ex in his dreams, so that he won’t feel upset. ‘Lucid Dreams’ is a rap song and a heartbreak anthem.
Better Now- Post Malone: Number five this week, but number four last week, song went down on the chart but still in the top five after twenty one weeks on the chart. The song is a single from his album, ‘beerbongs and bentleys,’ and is produced by Louis Bell and Frank Dukes. It was also written by them including Post Malone and Billy Walsh. The song is a pop rap song and this song and album are liked by a lot of people. The song is about a relationship that ended but he tried to save it by buying materialistic things in order to make her happy. He sings that he feels that they let each other down but it was never intentional. He also sings that he thinks there is still hope for them to get back together.
I like it- Cardi B, Bad Bunny, J Balvin: This is number six this week but went down three numbers when last week it was number three. This a single from Cardi B’s most popular and newest album ‘Invasion of Privacy.’ ‘I Like It’ was produced by Tainy, Craig and J. White Did It, and the song was written by a number of people including the producers and Cardi B. The song has sounds of Latin beats and also sounds of rap. It also has lyrics in Spanish. This song is one of her most popular songs and helped her to become the big singer she is today.
I Love It- Kanye West and Lil Pump: This song is at number seven and was at number six last week. It’s now on its second week on the chart and went to the top 10 right away. The song is a single from Lil Pump’s album, ‘Harverd Dropout,’ and the song is produced by Clark Kent, Kanye West, CBMIX and Ronny J. The song is rap and also very explicit.
