Walt Disney World New and Coming Attractions Journalism November 27, 2018December 7, 2018 Walt Disney World New and Coming Attractions Sophia Albert November 27, 2018 Disney is constantly adding new attractions including rides, shows, resorts, and restaurants to Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida. With all the new upcoming attractions it can be hard to keep up with all the openings and changes. Many Disney fans take trips to the parks every few years and need more information about the nearing rides and attractions in the future. Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, Hollywood Studios, and Epcot all have new additions to their parks in Disney World. First off is Magic Kingdom, the most well known and visited park in Orlando. The park consists of Main Street U.S.A, Adventureland, Frontierland, Liberty Square, New Fantasyland, and Tomorrowland. The construction of New Fantasyland has been done for several years and the major highlight was The Seven Dwarfs Mine Train. More fairly new attractions include the Festival of Fantasy Parade and Mickey’s Royal Friendship Faire. Happily Ever After, a fantastic firework show replaced an old firework show at night and became a fan favorite and a big reason why people come to MK. The top ride people are excited for is the Tron roller coaster that will be located in Tomorrowland. It is scheduled to open in 2021 in time for Walt Disney World’s 50th Anniversary. The construction of the Tron ride will cause closures to parts of the Tomorrowland Speedway for parts of 2019. The Move It! Shake It! Mousekedance It! Parade will be coming soon on Main Street U.S.A. Next up is Animal Kingdom that consists of Africa, Asia, DinoLand U.S.A, Discovery Island, The Oasis, Pandora-The World of Avatar, and Rafiki’s Planet Watch. Animal Kingdom has overgone a major renovation, adding Pandora-The World of Avatar, the biggest addition Disney has had in over a decade. This section of the park is “magical” and has high reviews, even after being over a year old now, the popularity and hype hasn’t gone down. Two of the most popular rides in Pandora are Flight of Passage and Na’vi River Journey. River of Light is Animal Kingdom’s spectacular firework show in Pandora. Starting in 2019 to celebrate the Lion King’s 25th Anniversary in Discovery Island will be the “Hakuna Matata Time Dance Party”. The next park in Disney World is Hollywood Studios that has major plans for the future. This park once had Pixar Place and is being transformed to Municiberg City from The Incredibles. Toy Story Land opened in June of 2018, becoming a place every Disney fan wants to experience after anticipating the opening. The main attractions in Toy Story Land are the Slinky Dog Dash and the Alien Swirling Saucers. The best restaurant here is Woody’s Lunchbox. In addition to the transformation of Pixar Place to Municiberg City in 2019, there will be meet and greets with many characters and a new children’s show called Lightning McQueen’s Race Academy. A highly anticipated new land in Hollywood Studios is Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, formally known as Star Wars Land opening late in 2019 with two new attractions. The final new attraction planned to open around summer 2019 is Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railroad, it is a dark ride that is finally replacing the Great Movie Ride. The Runaway Railroad will feature a new catchy song and Mickey and Minnie, the first ride in Disney World themed around the two most popular Disney characters. Epcot is the final main park in Disney World besides Disney Springs and the two water parks Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon. The two areas are Future Land where Spaceship Earth, Mission Space, Test Track, and The Land pavilion are and World Showcase that includes Japan, Mexico, Norway, China, Germany, Italy, America, France, and Canada. Soarin’ Around the World and Frozen Ever After in Norway are now a few years old and still quite popular, but the lines have seemed to go down. The famous firework show, Illuminations in Epcot is being replaced by a new show called Epcot Forever in the fall of 2019 as a temporary show with a permanent one coming at some point in the future. In the France pavilion, a new trackless family dark ride based on the Ratatouille movie is scheduled to open in the summer of 2020. Sometime in 2021 a hybrid roller coaster based on Guardians of the Galaxy is planned to debut in Future Land. One final addition to Disney World in Orlando is the Disney Skyliner that is a transportation system of gondolas going from a few resorts to Hollywood Studios and also Epcot. The gondolas will feature fan favorite Disney characters. Disney World has a lot of exciting new attractions planned and being constructed as of now, hardcore fans will be visiting the parks as soon as the new rides and shows are opened!
