Iverson Journalism May 11, 2018June 14, 2018 Cameron Rideout Iverson The film ‘’Iverson is the ultimate legacy of NBA legend Allen Iverson, who rose from a childhood of crushing poverty in Hampton, Virginia, to become an 11-time NBA All-Star and universally recognized icon of his sport. Off the court, his audacious rejection of conservative NBA convention and unapologetic embrace of hip hop culture sent shockwaves throughout the league and influenced an entire generation. Told largely in Iverson’s own words, the film charts the career highs and lows of one of the most distinctive and accomplished figures the sport of basketball has ever seen.’’ People care because of his story and his road to becoming an NBA star. He is willing to give hope to kids that are in his situation. Living poverty no father figure and parents who are doing drugs and themselves doing drugs and getting into trouble. And this can help us be able to get passed the very tough things that he had to go threw and now look at him. The main thing behind this that if you are not having a life that you thought was going to be better that there is always time to change. And also that there is always hope. At some points in your life there will be highs and lows. But not everything was just bad to him he also made lots of bad decisions that were almost to the point of costing his entire career. Him and his dad were always thrown in and out of jail but Iverson took a turn for the best and got out of that life, There are many people like him out there. Here are a few responses he has towards people wanting him to fail and how he got passed that. ‘’Man, people have been waiting for me to fall off my whole career. From the first time I stepped on the court. It probably made people sick to their stomachs watching my whole career, watching the things that I’ve done in my career’’ ‘’Me and my family are straight. I am blessed. I am alive, man, and I am healthy, and that is the only thing that matters. Me and my family, everybody else, it really doesn’t matter because why do you care about somebody talking negative about you if they don’t know you?’’ ‘’ Doing this for so long, I realize that the media – you have a boss. And your boss wants you to provide the best material that you can. And he might put pressure on you to do it a way that you feel is unconstitutional. You might not like it. But you still gotta feed your family. : This document is significant to me because i love the game of basketball. I have been watching Iverson for long as i can remember. And for a documentary to come out about one of my all time favorite player is cool . Iverson is a role model to me. How he was able to go around and get through so many tough obstacles it was truly inspiring. Iverson telling his story is very enjoyable. He was able to go threw so many things and still turn out to be successful. Personally i have not gone through some of the stuff he has gone three but some things i can relate to and it’s nice having someone to share these things with. One thing that he does is that he runs his evry own basketball league which is call the 3v3 which is a bunch of celebs and basketball legends sighn up and get put onto a team of three and they are all drafted randomly then they play in the league and who ever doe come out on top is delcleared the best in the iverson league, The name of the toutermeant is called the BIG3. The one who helped iverson come out of retirement is the rapper and now big time movie star and his old friend was Ice Cube. He gave iverson the idea to come back out and play ball and do what he was born to do until the day that he dies, Iverson enjoyed see all his old friends even in cludong his older friend Dr J, therer was a one time that he did get hurt in week four and questined if he would contune to play in other weeks thinking that this is to much fgor him ‘’Fans in Philadelphia didn’t exactly get what they wanted from Week 4 of the Big3, but those in the Wells Fargo Center still got plenty of local flavor. Allen Iverson didn’t play due to an injury, but he and Julius Erving did battle from the sidelines as coaches. Dr. J’s Tri-State earned the win over Iverson’s 3’s Company, while Philadelphia native Cuttino Mobley also came up big on the court to make it another solid day of action for the three-on-three league Iverson announced his decision not to play in a video on Instagram before the games started, apologizing to his hometown fans:’’ Quotes Sources https://www.brainyquote.com/quotes/quotes/a/allenivers786977.html : https://www.brainyquote.com/quotes/quotes/a/allenivers786928.html : https://www.brainyquote.com/quotes/quotes/a/allenivers558568.html
