Due to his Lack of Popular Votes, Donald Trump Claims the People have Voted Illegally

On November 27th, 2016, president elect Donald Trump voiced his anger through twitter, accusing many of fraud, with no evidence to back it up. His displeasure was seemingly due to his lack of popular votes counted in the general election. He believes that the only reason that had happened was because millions had voted illegally. Trump’s series of posts were subsequent to Hillary Clinton’s campaign, reviving the allegations towards a rigged and venal system. However, even with Trump’s claims, there has yet to be any findings of vote manipulation, illegal voting, or hacking in any form to control the outcome of the presidential election. With no evidence to support Trump, why did he suddenly have this outburst?

Although he won the Electoral College, and thus the white house and title as president, Trump still has something to say about the 2 million ballots he lacks to Hillary Clinton in the popular vote. He first spoke out on twitter, starting by saying, “In addition to winning the Electoral College in a landslide, I won the popular vote if you deduct the millions of people who voted illegally”. Briefly after, he adds “It would have been much easier for me to win the so-called popular vote than the Electoral College in that I would only campaign in 3 or 4- states instead of the 15 states that I visited. I would have won even more easily and convincingly (but smaller states are forgotten)!” Trump could be referencing back to a series of fake conspiracies that have been brought up through online sources, claiming that he did indeed win in the popular vote. Him and his transition team have refused to make any comments since the outburst on Sunday.

Later on Trump then started to take shots at runner up, Hillary Clinton. His tweetstorm continued on with criticism towards the recount. He continued by saying, “Hillary Clinton conceded the election when she called me just prior to the victory speech and after the results were in. Nothing will change”… “’Trump is going to be our President. We owe him an open mind and the chance to lead.’ So much time and money will be spent – same result! Sad.” While he bashed Clinton, adding more fuel to the fire of feuds sprouting from the election this year, he had a totally different view on the Electoral College. He tweeted, with positivity, “The Electoral College is actually genius in that it brings all states, including the smaller ones, into play. Campaigning is much different!” With all of this negative within modern politics, how did those react, and how did officials handle it?

There is already lots of drama surrounding the current election polls, and Trump’s name is either backlashed or highly supported. Protests and riots already are a huge problem with America’s society, so how did, or should, our community handle everything? Although government officials did look into the claim, no evidence to support Trump ever was found. With this, lots of people simply ignored the accusations and Trump’s supporters went on with the story. This is definitely how our country should deal with controversy, and not have concerns until there is actually shown to be one. Who knows what Trumps term of presidency will bring, but as long as we stay calm, our nation can remain in harmony.
