Principal’s Roundtable: December 2016 Journalism Middleborough High School Uncategorized December 23, 2016February 15, 2017 December 23, 2016 By: Joci Keough The Principal’s Roundtable met on Monday, December 19th to discuss the problems or new ideas for the school as a whole. For those who do not know how the Roundtable works, the captains, club presidents, and class president all get together to sit around a table with Mr. Branagan and discuss important events around the school. Hints the name, Principal’s Roundtable. Every time the Roundtable meets, it starts off with items by you. This is the time that you can talk about an important events or activities that the club or sports captain have coming up. This is a good time to hear everything that is going on because you can hear about events or fundraisers that are being put on by the the student body. For example, this year the swim team is having a fundraiser called Ducky Derby. This fundraiser helps that swim team raise money so they can get new equipment or funding for the sports organization. For five dollars you can get one rubber duck and for ten dollars, you can get 3 ducks. At one of the meets, 3 ducks will get pulled and those winners can receive a prize. The next topic that we talked about was school report cards. There was not any uproar about the report cards. Everyone that was sitting at the table did not have an comments about them, which means that there was no problem towards them. The next thing on the list was the One-to- One Initiative. There were lots of comments about these. Most of the problems came up about the 11th and 12th grade computers. Since these students got the old, already used tablets, they knew that there were going to be problems with them to beginning with, some of the problems that they did not know about were going to happen were the dying so easily of the tablets, so many glitches, and the problems with the mouse. They are trying to figure out these problems as soon as possible, but it could take time. An idea that has come up since the beginning of the year was the idea of the new school. They started with 20 idea of the layout of the school and narrowed it down to 10 by November this year. By now, December, they have narrowed it down to 5 ideas and by the summer of this year, they will have 1 final idea on how the new school is going to presented. Lastly, Branagan brought up with idea that is top secret. No one knows about this idea yet because Mr. Brangan does not want the word to get out until we know it is a definite yes from the person that he is connecting with. This idea should be brought to the school’s attention hopefully by next month if everything works out the way we want it to. At the end of the Roundtable, a new idea for a club came to mind. Liv Bulu is willing to start a club that is all about pizza. There is more to come about this idea, but hopefully it could be a club by the end of the year. The principal’s Roundtable will be meeting next month to talk about more events and to get more information about this top secret idea.
